Welcome to my official blog!

Hi! My name is Yasser Khan (pronounced as ‘Ya – Sayr’, with a distinct ‘r’ sound, not ‘Yes-sir!’ as in army drill schools! smiley wink yasser khan e1300079321647 About Yasser Khan ) and I’m an online entrepreneur, marketing consultant and personal development coach. Meet Yasser Khan is my personal professional blog and as such, I welcome you to my virtual hub.

This blog is dedicated to bridging Personal Development with Online Marketing, and serve as a one-stop platform for budding internet-entrepreneurs in all things marketing and personal development.

It was designed to help empower and inspire you to live life to the fullest, help create the reality you truly want for yourself, and live according to your real purpose on Earth.

So first, a bit about me…

I’m extremely passionate about what I do, and among the things I truly love doing are expressing myself in writing, undergoing and teaching personal development and transformations and investing.

Adjectives like unconventional [all the way from outer appearance and dressing to inner mind-set], driven [if that means getting shot down in a ball of flames and condemnations for the perceived cardinal sin of having lofty ambitions], peculiar [I'm just too different from the guy next door], zealous [they say conviction makes you a force on your own], vivacious [you've got to love living life to the fullest] and dynamic [being a change agent helps, obviously], just to name a few, get frequently associated with me.

You could say I wear them like a badge of honor. But I digress…

Born and raised in Singapore, I was naturally ambitious and admired the rich and successful since young, always thinking big and with grandiose visions of my future, which could be understood to be something approaching an anomaly. Also, I could never settle for a career in my mind, going against the norm of society and the education system by only doing what I truly loved.

After finishing college, I answered the call of my ambitions and dived right in.

Until late 2006, I had not even heard about online marketing. It would take me another 3+ years for my first foray into the serious business of this industry. Meanwhile, I was already involved in other small business start-up attempts with college mates, brick-and-mortar projects with fellow entrepreneurial ‘outcasts’ and learning about wealth-building strategies by attending seminars and courses. I strove to understand as much as possible about the entrepreneurial and financial game by following and modelling the experts’ best practices (and not just their quotable quotes). I count Tony Robbins, Benjamin Graham, Warren Buffett, Donald Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, T. Harv Eker and Michael E. Gerber among my ideal role-models in the business/investing/personal development arenas.

You could say I was almost obsessed with success.

The transition from the theoretical to the practical was far from easy, or comfortable. Then again, comfort is highly over-rated, as T. Harv Eker says. So here I was, involved in Online Marketing with just those mindset assets and pretty much nothing else. They’d later on prove to be invaluable and priceless.

It wasn’t always like that.

My journey for freedom was a long one, though you could be all too ready to dismiss me owing to my young age, a casual image and style.

When I was barely into my first month of my business, I had information overload, paralysis from over-analysis and a headache which was the direct result of attempting too many things at the same time.

I never knew where to start after reading too many tips and tricks online. Everybody had their own ideas on the what, when, where and how to of doing things. In short, it was extremely noisy.

To make matters worse, there was absolutely no support in place for a budding entrepreneur willing to undergo any hardship and pay the price for freedom.

No incubation.

No encouragement.

Nothing.

Everything and everyone, from the education system to industry, family, friends, peers and classmates strove to shackle and confine me to a regular 9 to 5 job (read, mediocrity). The lone black sheep in the family, I frequently underwent family-sponsored ‘consultation sessions‘ intended to reform me.

In other words, an entire ecosystem was well in place to nurture one to become a modern slave.

They thought I was simply crazy to aim that high and to attempt to break out of that mold! Heck, they even told me to my face (in no uncertain terms) that I was going backwards in life!

It wasn’t long before my contact lists in my phone started to shrink dramatically.

Friendships which had survived years suddenly started falling apart in mere minutes.

Buddies relegated themselves to  mere acquaintances… acquaintances turned to strangers… strangers became aliens!

The place I had thought of as home became more of a jail sentence day by day.

But, these were just the beginnings of the challenges thrown my way, and there were much worse trials and tribulations to come!

A borrowed shirt, old pants and torn shoes…

Things came to such an extent that I was reduced to go about conducting my businesses in just the clothes I had on me.

Well, let me qualify that first.

They were not all mine, and some were borrowed shirts, and the one thing I had the ‘good’ fortune to call my own was a rickety, old and torn pair of shoes which left little choice but to hobble around with blisters and protruding toes.

Neither did walking 24 kilometers a day on foot help. (I’m not exaggerating… It can even be considered a shame in a city of cheap public transport…)

Do you know how embarrassing it is for an adult to be seen in such an attire by young clients?

They probably thought I had been coming straight from the Salvation Army…

So, you can well imagine me, a fish out of water, in unfortunately just one of the many low points I experienced. No support, negative finances, dwindling motivation, screaming patience, no emotional dumping ground… just the primeval will to survive with apparently no end in sight… or so I thought.

Finding Me…

It took drastic changes in my entire subconscious mindset, and total psychological re-wiring to get me aligned to success on a cellular level. So drastic indeed, that I became virtually unrecognizable to people around me.

I became a virtual stranger in my own house!

In other words, I had to wage a war to attract the Grand Dame of success itself.

But first, I had to clear away all the cobwebs of uncertainty and hesitation.

Slowly, it dawned on me. “You do not need to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.” said Martin Luther King. I tuned out all the noise, all the crap, and all the self-induced struggles and braced myself for the ride, acting on my intuition.

Boy, what a ride it was!

In fact, I transcribed that experience onto prose when I wrote a blog post about my renaissance, Battle Cry Of The Online Warrior.

Then I stumbled upon one life-changing discovery after another.

I found amazing resources, gurus, specialists, businessmen, millionaires even, all willing to impart their invaluable mindset to me.

It was like a meeting of soul-mates! (NOT what you’re thinking. Don’t worry, I didn’t marry them!)

This, of course, set me on fire! (Oh yeah, I’m known for my ‘fires’ too! icon smile About Yasser Khan )

Discovering the power of the internet!

It wasn’t long when a goldmine presented itself in the form of making money online. With like-minded friends and associates, I started from scratch, with absolutely zero knowledge in html, SEO, marketing, copywriting, and many others.

Once I figured out to train myself to act in spite of anything, things started falling in place and after a while, doing new things became a natural way of being for me.

Using the incredible amount of leverage provided by the internet, I was able to run my entire business on auto-pilot from anywhere, anytime, leaving the human factor entirely out of the equation.

Coincidentally, (or was it the destiny I created?) I made money from my first online ventures long before my first offline business profits!

This gave me the time freedom to pursue my true passions in value investing, travelling, writing, growing and embrace a higher calling.

It was simply exhilarating to say the least!

So, this was the synopsis of my story.

What’s yours?

If you too are in the same position, then you might benefit from what I did too. I founded this blog on the premise I’d be 100% upfront with you, while leaving an open forum for you to do the same as well.

Eight Lessons You Can Learn From The Japan Disaster

japan disaster 2011 lessons yasser khan
Japan 2011. Human suffering. Nerve-wracking crises. Disasters of epic proportions. Belief-defying spectacular explosions. Collateral damage catching innocent bystanders totally by surprise.   Amid all the frantic appeals for relief and clamoring for the dead, it is rational thought and the voice of reason that gets drowned first.   Yet when every time commotion dies down, so does our collective conscience.
